Just spoken to about 800 people at Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh
Adrian Holloway on December 9, 2011 with 0 CommentsWhat a night! We had about 200 in the first Carol Service and we were almost full with 600 or so in the second. This is a superb event that I spoke at last yearwhen I was blown away by Sam Orr and the amazing choir and orchestra he conducted at the previous year’s Edinburgh Universities’ joint CU Carols.
They invited me back, to a different venue. Last year we were in St Cuthbert’s just underneath the Castle, and this time I spoke at a church best known for it’s “Kirkyard” and a Victorian dog (i.e. ‘Greyfriars Bobby’) who followed his masters’ ashes to the churchyard and then hung around his master’s grave until he died.
I cannot begin to tell you how good the choir and the orchestra were tonight, there were about 25 people in each. I did a different talk to the one I’ve been doing all this week so far, and it seemed to go well, particularly in the second service. There was a great atmosphere. Nottingham Carols tomorrow and then Southampton on Sunday.
