Last night’s gig with the LCGC in Plymouth!
Adrian Holloway on December 17, 2011 with 0 CommentsHere’s a photo of me preaching at the London Community Gospel Choir concert at the Guildhall in Plymouth last night. Basil Meade, who founded LCGC nearly 30 years ago was on stage behind the keyboard, and told us some of their story. Of course the choir were awesome. The soloists were amazing. And Basil got everyone in the venue up on their feet swaying, clapping and even holding hands, and singing requests from the school choir who opened the show.
Getting Devonians to sway was quite an achievement especially in such a prestigious civic building! LCGC are uncompromising on the truth, as Basil illustrated from last week’s concert in Beirut, where they performed to a majority Moslem audience. My thanks to my new friends Grant and Suz Van Shalkwyk, and everyone at Waterfront City Church, who were so kind to us over the summer and last night.
