The healing of Sophie Dean

“When I was 7 years old I woke up and my left ear was bleeding,” Sophie Dean from Macclesfield told me at Newday 15. “My mum took me to the hospital. They said I had an ear infection.”

Now 15 years old, Sophie described how subsequent surgery left her partially deaf in one ear.

“My doctor was certain there was something wrong, beyond just an ear infection.

“My doctor took me to a private clinic. They took a look even further. They found two infected bones decomposing in my left ear, so they had to remove those bones, cos the infection was about to go through to my brain. So at that point, because of the operation, I lost my hearing and I also got a permanent hole in my ear, so I had to go the hospital every so often to get it cleared out to make sure there’s no infection in it.

“So ever since the age of 7, I was partially deaf. I could only hear muffled voices, it was like I had my head permanently under the water. I couldn’t hear anything anybody was saying through it.

But at Newday 14, when I prayed for healing in the name of Jesus, Sophie said she was instantly and totally healed. She came on stage a matter of minutes later to tell us what had happened. Now back on the same stage exactly a year later, she described the moment she was healed: “When you prayed, the music got louder, and then I could hear the birds outside. I could hear completely. I could hear perfectly fine in both ears. It’s the same in both ears.

“I’ve had a year now of hearing normally. It’s very strange. I wake up early every morning now because I can hear the birds outside my window.

“A couple of weeks ago I went back to the hospital, they said there’s no more risk of infection.”
