I took part in a broadcast called “Fuelling your faith” with Mark Bullen, who leads Hope Community Church, Wymondham in Norfolk in the summer, where I talked about some of the people we’ve been able to reach online. By the grace of God I was able to personally lead a Moslem called David (not his real name) to Christ online, 1 on 1, during the first lockdown. This is a guy who lives in Exeter, and I spent a huge amount of time, as you can imagine, working through Moslem objections to Christianity with him. The reason I met David online was because he was active in trying to win people to Islam through his You Tube channel! I’m grateful to God that not only did David come to understand the gospel, and receive Christ, but I was also able to connect him to a local church where he lives, who are now helping him with his first steps as a new Christian. Becoming a Christian from a Moslem background is not easy, and it’s even harder during Covid where you can’t meet your new family in person, but I am so pleased to see Jesus becoming real to David, who is now doing evangelism for Jesus on You Tube! Amazing!
I’ve also been able to equip other churches who’ve asked me to help shape up their evangelistic strategy. These include King’s Church Lewes, a cluster of churches in Hampshire, led by Andrew Lawrence, who invited me in for some training. I’ve also partnered with God First Church in Dorset. And I was privileged to advise the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics, who asked for my input in terms of reaping strategies. Specifically, advice on how I actually close the deal in asking people to say “yes” to Christ. The mechanics of conversion. Of course during 2020, there were also some big disappointments. Events postponed. For example all the work I’d done preparing for Newday 2020, which was cancelled.
