I was delighted to be asked to lay one of the foundation stones (see pic) “for the next 30 years” of King’s Church, Darlington, this morning. It was a privilege. And it was great to see Mike Coltman, who now leads the church with his wife Jenny leading worship this morning at the King’s Centre. My first Sunday morning ever speaking there.
In fact my previous Sunday morning there was when the church was founded 30 odd years ago. I remember getting a coach from Emmanuel Church Durham down for a regional meeting in Darlington when Bryn Jones spoke. Those were great days, church planting both into Newcastle and Darlington while I was at university in Durham.
Today was the first Sunday morning that I’ve shared the story of our friends Tanya & Nadim Ednan-Laperouse. This was during an interview before the preach. And amazing to meet a civil servant afterwards, who was a first time visitor, who told me she’d been part of the team who drafted “Natasha’s Law” which Tanya & Nad inspired into government legislation.
Delighted to hear also from Mike that someone became a Christian this morning. A great trip!
