I’ve been told that 18 people, who said they were not connected to any church, ticked the ‘I prayed the O little town of Bethlehem prayer’ box when I spoke at River Church Sutton’s Carol Service last night. 10 of those left their contact details, with 4 more saying they would like to find out more about Christianity. This is a church planted out of Queens Road, Wimbledon back in 2004, which now owns an amazing building, Highfield Hall, on the main road between Carshalton and Sutton. They’ve got a coffee shop, a sports hall and a gallery in the main hall. This was all astonishing to me, because I remember this being a ‘church plant’ and it’s tremendous to see how well established they now are under the leadership of Steve and Claire Musters. A highlight of the event was Bethlehemian Rhapsody, a puppet show performed by some of the church youth group. A real privilege to be there for my first visit. A big choir and a wonderful Carol Service.
